In Their Own Words: Voices in Support of NJSOC
In mid-May 2020, Montclair State University announced its intent to close the New Jersey School of Conservation and turn management of the facility over to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. The Friends of NJSOC immediately mobilized its members, past participants in SOC programs, and the School’s current clients to speak up and share their stories in an effort to save the School. Hundreds of letters were sent to legislators, the Governor’s office, and state officials expressing support for the School, and heartfelt videos were shared across social media platforms.
Here, in their own words, are the stories of NJSOC supporters. This is the story of why NJSOC matters.
